One-to-one tuition
in English and maths
What to expect
These sessions are bespoke lessons and are designed to meet the need of your child at whatever level they are. I begin with a simple assessment to identify gaps in learning and to prioritise learning goals.
Equally, the assessment identifies strengths if your child is a high achiever. It provides a jumping off point to accelerate learning. I often use secondary school resources in both English and maths. This advanced learning creates a useful foundation, should your child be undertaking 11+ preparation further down the line.
A flexible approach
I go at the pace of the child, which gives them the freedom to ask the questions they don’t like to ask in class. I am flexible in my approach and will happily consolidate concepts that children are covering in school that day.
I am completely up to date with the changes in the National Curriculum and am fully equipped to help your child meet or exceed the expectations in maths, writing, comprehension, spelling, punctuation and grammar. I have experience in tutoring maths and English up to GCSE level.
Building resilience
These individual sessions are designed to offer support and to build your child’s confidence with the aim of empowering them to value rather than fear making mistakes. I also teach about the importance of perseverance and having an open mindset in the pursuit of success.
What you need to know
- Weekly lesson of one hour in English, Maths or combined English and maths
- Structured programme of study of six-week blocks
- Free pre-assessment
- Teaching times Monday to Thursday from 3.45pm – 7.00pm
- Fun rewards system for hard work and achievement
- Half termly feedback about progress
- £50 per hour
