Group lessons after school in Teddington
Focussed and fun
My lessons, which are both focussed and fun, take place at United Response, Teddington. It is a relaxed, spacious and child-friendly environment. The purpose of group teaching is to challenge and motivate children to fulfil their potential so that they are working at or beyond the expected National Curriculum levels for their year group.
Small tutor groups
Following an initial assessment, I teach in small groups of between three to five children. My experience shows that they benefit from the interaction with one another, collaborating to solve problems, sharing ideas for writing and creating friendly competition for each other. This drives the children toward higher standards in their learning and makes it much more fun when we play games.
What you need to know
- I teach English or maths group lessons in two lots of six-week blocks. You book one term at a time. The content of each unit is in line with the National Curriculum.
- The groups are arranged by year group from Year 3 up to Year 6.
- Termly cost:
1:4 £170 - The small groups are for either English or maths, but I know that many parents are concerned about learning gaps following home schooling during Covid. I am open to creating a bespoke unit of study for a group of children if there is a specific need, so please contact me to discuss.

ENGLISH SKILLS FOR GREAT WRITING
In this six-week writing course, your child will learn:
- spelling rules and tricks to help remember irregular spellings
- grammar rules – e.g., adding suffixes and prefixes to change meanings of words
- sentence level work- mastering simple and compound sentences
- vocabulary extension – learn new and ambitious vocabulary to make sentences sparkle
- speech punctuation – writing dialogue to add depth to writing.
Each session comprises a weekly writing activity.
